At the onset of COVID, I spent time contemplating the last series of drawings I had been working on called Hidden Things Evolving. The drawings felt as though they came from a deeper place than the series before them. The imaginary organisms in these drawings reflect growth and decay along with beautiful molds and fungi, which become life’s silver linings.That beauty I saw has become more and more difficult to access. Instead, I find my work missing those silver linings as it focuses on the daunting future of our planet.
Sky Day Project 2020, conceived by Ben Whitehouse, has made it possible for fine artists and scientists across the globe to share their thoughts and their knowledge. We’re experiencing the arts acting as a vehicle through which science works to heal our planet.
